Grenada is a picturesque island country located in the Caribbean Sea, known as the "Spice Isle" for its production of nutmeg and other spices. It was founded by the indigenous Arawak and Carib peoples before being colonized by the French in 1650 and later the British in 1763. Grenada gained independence in 1974 and is now a sovereign nation within the Commonwealth. The official currency used in Grenada is the Eastern Caribbean dollar (XCD).
